VMA BSHRM AND BSTM Students Reap Gold, Silver, Bronze And Diploma Awards

Once again, the BS Hotel Restaurant Management ( BSHRM) and BS Tourism Management (BSTM) students of VMA GLOBAL COLLEGE & TRAINING CENTERS, INC. surpassed in the competitions held in Dumaguete City , on September 21-22, 2018 , during the Convention and Skills Olympics 2018, organized by the Council of Hotel and Restaurant Education of the Philippines (COHREP).
The skills competition aims to showcase the skills and prowess of the HRM and Tourism students of all HEI’s from the Region.

Gold Medalists in Flair Bartending Challenge are Krisha Jade C. Dioteles, and Ma. Clenia May I. Roma, both of them are BSHRM IV – A, who trained by Mr. Danilo Plomeda, VMA Bartending Trainor.
Another Gold award, in Buffet Table Skirting with Centerpiece Making competition was given to April Lyne P. Ablao , Kathy D. Edulag , both in BSHRM IV- B, and Realyn N. Dorinila of BSHRM IV-A .
While, Jemark Belarmino of BSHRM IV- A, got the Silver Award in dessert flambe, followed by the team Eman G. Caro, Valerie Mae V. Muchuelas and Dave S. Delgado, also BSHRM IV – A, won the Bronze award in On the Spot Table Setting Challenge.
Another bronze award for Napkin folding was given to Donessa E. Santoyo of BSHRM IV-A.
The BSTM IV students, Ellaine Angelique S. Sona , Carl N. Beboso, together with Dhonna M. Garbanzos, along with Ruffa R. Abarillo, who joined in the Domestic, International Tour Guiding and Domestic Tour Package Proposal competition, also reaped the Silver, Bronze and Diploma awards.
The students obtained inspiration and expert guidance from their Trainor’s, Mr. Edwin P. Benetiz, Mrs. Mercerose E. Rafil, Mr. Danilo Plomeda and Mrs. Rose Ann A. Villarias , all are Faculty Members of the College, led by the enthusiast, one of the leaders in public service and the expert in Hospitality management, Mr. Heries V. Trance , Dean of Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management/ Hospitality Management and Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM).

In partial compliance of their academic requirements in Banquet and Catering Management, Fourth year Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) students of VMA Global College and Training Centers, Inc. staged a grand wedding reception which they planned and organized.
Applying what they learned in creative ways on October 11, 2017 at VMA TESTC function hall, the students dressed-up venue of the wedding reception elegantly and served sumptuous dishes and refreshing beverages to invited guests, with the support of BTED program head Mercirose Rafil.
The students obtained inspiration and expert guidance from Edwin Benitez, a known Gown, Barong Designer and VMA Trainor. His world class creation of gowns and barongs were donned by the Acting wedded couple, Paul Christian Hudtohan and Jaya Mapa with their principal and secondary sponsors made up of Dr. Remedios Johanna S. Vargas, Dr. John Philipp G. Gustilo, Ms. Sheena Mae M. Animas, Ms. Eva Joy G. Rumbines, Ms. Lauren Thea Marie Bentinganan & Mr. Roland Rivera. Also with Adrien Gabriel Vasquez ( Ring Bearer), Prince Kayvin Lumogdang (Coin Bearer), Kris Danielle M. Vale (Bible Bearer), Zianah Vargas, Jayne Beverly Alicante, Clea Moleen Maranon ( Flower Girls), Joebelle Alicante , Ailene Mae Alisbo , Jedilyn Concepcion & Kristine Villaluna (Brides Maids) , and Rommel Lava, Adrian Gabriel Maranon (Grooms Men)
The college’s Public Relations Officer and Librarian-Designate, Jona G. Macaranas, stood as the groom’s mother who gave a stirring and inspiring message to the newly-wedded couple.
The acting mother of the groom exhorted the couple to offer their marriage to God and put Jesus Christ in the center of their relationship and let His love be the source of love and care they will give to each other, a love that will help them overcome the challenges of the harsh realities of life.
She assured the acting couple that they can count on her as she will always be there to guide and help them.
The acting father of the groom, Erwin Apsay, the acting parents of the bride Ms. Daisy Mae Pilarta and C/E Edwin Saplada together with the sponsors took turns in giving inspiring messages wishing the newly-wed couples well *

A Course Laboratory Project by VMA’s Hotel and Restaurant Management Students turns a Dream Wedding into a Reality

A team of fourth year Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) students from VMA Global College endeavored to comply with their most recently assigned college project of their applied extensive knowledge and innovative expertise of Hospitality and Events Management to transform a local Negrense couple’s modest nuptial into a vision of Pure Marital Bliss. The recipients of their boundless efforts were none other than VMA Cheer Leader Trainer John Oliver Orgil and his better half a certain Miss Mary Jean Mallorca.

In concurrence with the requirements of their Laboratory Class, the Bachelors of Science in HRM students planned, organized and executed every minute detail of John Oliver Orgil and Mary Jean Mallorca beautiful ceremony which was held in the afternoon of October 11, 2016 at St. John Nepumuceno Parish Church.

The marriage of John Oliver and Mary Jean was officiated by the esteemed Rev. Fr. Romeo D. Tumonong, and the Principal Sponsors were the cream of the City’s Governmental Crop from the likes of Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, City Administrator & VMA Pres. Atty. John N. Orola, Jr., Atty. Ariel Maglalang, Barangay Capt. John Malayang, Capt. Caren Pineda, to professionals like Mr. Jose Garry Torencio, Mrs. Christina D. Deloesta, Mrs. Maria Sol C. Jolito, Mrs. Mary Hope Abeto, Mrs. Mercy Edano, Mrs. Fresh Billonis, Mrs. April Maglalang, and Mrs Agnes S. Apostol.

The couple, were already engaged for six years and had originally intended to hold their church wedding next year for lack of sufficient funds, but thanks to the talent, generosity and proficiency of the 4th year students from VMA Global College they instead became the proud beneficiaries of VMA’s BSHRM practicum program, a full on sponsorship that enabled them to have their wish of a wedding both captivating and memorable. The program’s supervision and development was tightly supervised under the guidance of the student’s teacher, VMA’s Class Instructor Heiress Trance.
